What greater themes could one wish for in any Masonic Order than those of friendship and caring? This is principally what The Order of the Secret Monitor is about. Its ceremonial is based on the Old Testament story of the lifelong friendship between David and Jonathan.
Who is eligible for membership of OSM and how is it organised?
A candidate for Induction (Admission) into the Order of the Secret Monitor must be a Master Mason in good standing, and a member of a regular Craft Lodge under a Constitution recognized by Mark Masons Hall, London. The Order besides being called The Order of the Secret Monitor (OSM) is also known as the Brotherhood of David and Jonathan and is managed by Grand Conclave based and administrated from Mark Masons Hall. Grand Conclave is headed by the Grand Supreme Ruler, who has a Deputy and other Grand Officers to assist in the smooth running of the Order. Grand Conclave supports several provincial Conclaves (Lodges) in the UK and District Grand Conclaves (overseas). These provincial Conclaves support the private conclaves within its province.

Then four officers called the Visiting Deacons. This role is the most important role within the order, and key in promoting the fundamental principles of OSM. Each Deacon is assigned a quarter of the Conclaves’ membership and are responsible for communicating with their quarter of the Conclave between meetings to ensure that all is well with them.
