SMFA Christmas Lunch at Taunton Masonic Hall

What do Snowmen eat for breakfast?

Another Christmas, another wonderful SMFA lunch at Taunton Masonic Hall on 3rd December.

Once again, Lynn Evans and her committee organised a magnificent Christmas lunch at the Hall for members and their Guests, which included the Provincial Grand Master and his wife Hazel.

Assembling in the Sherry room for a pre-lunch glass of fizz or something softer, the 63 guests then sat down to a traditional – and very filling – Christmas lunch, catered as splendidly as ever by Karen Dingle and her team.  Karen’s motto is nobody leaves Taunton feeling hungry.

Lynn opened proceedings with a special gift to all guests in memory of her late husband Tony, who sadly passed to GLA earlier this year.  Diving in rapidly to the prawn cocktail, the turkey plus all the trimmings was soon followed by a choice of 4 different desserts – and then topped off with home-made mince pies, undoubtedly the best your writer has sampled this year !

Lunch was followed by a raffle, expertly organised by  Ann & Barry Renwick.  The groaning prize table was a great incentive to take part.  Compered by Ray Baines, the raffle realised £355 which will be used to help defray the cost of trips and events for members.  Heads and Tails was played for a bottle of Penderyn Welsh Whisky, won by Lesley Mallon.

Festivities were rounded off with carols and Taunton Masonic Hall’s  now-traditional active participation singing of “12 days of Christmas” Lynn closed the proceeding by thanking the members of her Committee, Shirley Farmer, Di Mulhall, Avril Hooley, Sandra Wilson, Peter Lock and Ray Baines for all their help in organising the event.
