Connaught Lodge visit Midsomer Norton Fayre

At the recent Midsomer Norton Town Fair and in line with the membership challenge the strategy of Conaught Lodge, was to attract the children to our gazebo, then engage with the parents, particularly the father. So they thought a great way for attracting them would be a squad of TLC teddies on display and giving them a helium balloon, printed with ‘Connaught Freemasons’ and the QR Code going direct to our website.

A quick chat with the father to explain who we are and what we do, then give him our leaflet with further
details as well as the QR Code, so he can check them out when back home.

Of course, as the children with the balloons going around the Fayre, which was much busier
than they thought it would be, a great way of self-promotion for the Lodge. As other children saw them, they too wanted a balloon, so brought their parents to see us. One family kindly consented to a
photograph of their children with our balloons.

W. Bro Pete Kuzemka was surprised how much interest there was. We answered many
questions and were able to dispel some of the myths that people have about Freemasonry. An
excellent public relations exercise, and with several useful leads to follow up, it was well
worth the effort.
